This release of the coding manual includes the following updates:

• Business rules
  The Business Rules have been updated in line with the changes to the C11051 schema.


• COMMIT-stage validation rules
  The COMMIT-stage validation rules have now been released.


• File structures for downloadable files
  The downloadable file specifications, sample data and XSDs have been updated for 2011/12. New this year is a downloadable Qualifications on Entry table added to the 'File Structure - Data Supply' section.


• Derived field specifications
  Derived field specifications for the collection have been added to the manual for the first time.


• Validation kit updated
  The validation kit has been updated to take account of the updated business rules.


• Changes to valid entries include:
  
  
  • Course.COURSEAIM/QualificationsAwarded.QUAL
    Labels for valid entries D00, D01, E00, L00, L80, M00 and M50 revised to align with the guidance for research-based higher degrees - no change in meaning.
  
  
  • Instance.NHSEMP
    New valid entries added for Scottish Health Boards. Valid entries removed due to the merging of Welsh Health Boards.
  
  
  • Module.TINST
    New valid entry added: 10020416 Assemblies of God Incorporated (t/a Mattersey Hall).
  
  
  • QualificationsOnEntry.QUALSBJ
    New valid entries added to reflect the subjects associated with the new qualifications introduced in *J for 2011/12: A30, C10, E16, E17, E24, E36, G17, I40, I42, P94, R31, S59, V10, V11, Y10.
