Dear Colleagues
In October 2011 HESA published a consultation on changes to the Student record for 2012/13. This circular sets out the results of the consultation process and summarises the changes that are being carried forward for 2012/13.
The rapidly-changing HE environment has meant that the timing and the timescales for this consultation process were not as generous as has been the case in previous years. The consultation was launched shortly after the KIS documentation was first published and while the 2010/11 Student record collection was still underway. In spite of this, 82 responses were received from the HE sector and HESA received a number of responses from software providers. The Agency is grateful to everybody who managed to get a response in before the deadline.
The consultation responses were analysed and further discussions have taken place with Statutory Customers. This circular announces the results of that process.
Annex A sets out the changes that are being implemented to the Student record for 2012/13. It includes changes resulting from the consultation conducted in October 2011 and, for completeness, changes for 2012/13 that have already been announced.
Annex B lists those consultation issues that are not being carried forward for 2012/13.
HESA will publish a full technical specification of the fields affected by the 2012/13 changes in the first quarter of 2012. The complete 2012/13 coding manual will be published in the Autumn of 2012.
