The performance indicator tables are divided into six sections accessible from the menu below. Each section includes the main indicator tables themselves, definitions and any supplementary information. As the indicators are complex in nature and calculation, please take a moment to read through the accompanying definitions and other documents.
Widening participation of under-represented groups
These tables look at the percentage of students from state schools or colleges, specified socio-economic classes and low-participation neighbourhoods. Go to this section...
Widening participation of students who are in receipt of disabled students’ allowance
This indicator is the percentage of students
who are in receipt of Disabled Students’ Allowance. The table is in
three sections, one covering full-time first degree students, one
covering full-time undergraduates and the third covering part-time
undergraduates. Each section gives the number of students in the
category, the percentage who are in receipt of DSA (the indicator) and
the benchmark. The benchmark is based on entry qualifications of the
students and their subject of study. Go to this section...
Non-continuation rates
These tables look at non-continuation rates for students at an institution. They are presented in two ways. The first considers students who start in a particular year and looks at whether they are still in higher education one year later. The second method looks at projected outcomes over a longer period. Go to this section...
Module completion rates
Some institutions return data to HESA in modular format. This table provides information about the pass rates of part-time students at institutions. It is restricted to undergraduate students domiciled in the UK and is only being published at present for institutions funded by the HEFCW. Go to this section...
Research output
This table provides four indicators of annual research output. The indicators here look at numbers of PhDs awarded and amount of research grants and contracts obtained, relative to the academic staff costs of an institution and relative to the funding council allocation of quality related research funds to that institution. Go to this section...
Employment of graduates
The employment indicator expresses the number of graduates who say they are working or studying (or both) as a percentage of all those who are working or studying or seeking work. Go to this section...
