HESA Statistical First Releases of Student, Destinations and Staff data

Each year HESA publishes Statistical First Releases (SFRs) providing the first overviews of the previous academic year's statistics.
Note 1. The HESA Standard Registration Population was changed in 2007/08 to exclude writing-up and sabatical students. These students are included in the tables for earlier years, which are therefore not comparable with those for 2007/08 and later. This change only affects the Student Enrolment tables and does not affect Qualifications Obtained or Destinations of Leavers tables. The Student Enrolment SFRs for 2007/08 to 2009/10 include data for previous years which has been re-calculated according to the new standard registration population. For example the 2005/06 student numbers in SFR142 are different from the 2005/06 student numbers in SFR117. See the definitions in SFR130 for more details.
Note 2. The SFRs for student enrolments in 1998/99 to 2001/02 counted student enrolments as at 1 December of the academic year. From 2005/06 students are counted regardless of whether they are active on 1 December of the reporting period. See the definitions in SFR107 for more details.
Note 3. The HESA Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education Survey was first undertaken in 2002/03 and included leavers from both full-time and part-time study. In previous years the 'First Destinations Survey' only surveyed leavers from full-time study. See the definitions in SFR65 and SFR77 for more details.
