HESA training: institutional visits

Institutional visits are a valued addition to the HESA training portfolio and can be requested for the Student, Staff and DLHE Records. Visits can be carried out either at your institution or at the HESA offices in Cheltenham.

Why use the service?

The Institutional Visit service allows you to determine your very own training programme.

Institutional visits are particularly beneficial for those who require training on issues or areas specific to their institutions; so if you feel you need additional guidance or advice then visits provide the ideal opportunity. Visits also allow us to look at fields and data quality issues in the context of your institution.

The service is also an economic method of receiving training.

When should I use the service?

The Institutional Visit service could be used whenever you have a need.

It maybe that you have identified particular areas of HESA date reporting you are unsure about and would like further training or there are changes to the record you wish to better understand. The service is also available if you would like to identify areas of data quality improvement from the previous data collection cycle.

You may also want to use the service when you have more than two members of staff that require training at once. The visits allow as many members of staff to be trained as are required.

Who has already used the service?

Since December 2006 we have delivered Institutional Visit training to over 30 institutions from across the UK.

The service has been used by a wide-range of institutions with different HESA processes, resources and considerations. Such institutions include representatives of the entire HE sector.

What are the benefits of using the service?

There are many benefits to be gained from using a service that compliments our standard seminar programmes.

All institutions that have used the service to date have given very positive feedback about their experience through evaluation and felt that the visit will either very strongly or strongly help with future HESA returns.

Aside from the excellent feedback we get for our Institutional Visits, the service will also give you a better understanding of HESA data and processes. The visits have proved to be a success in improving data quality and resolving unusual reporting cases.

How do I organise a visit?

To organise a visit you can either contact Institutional Liaison on 01242 211144 or complete an enquiry form below. Completing the enquiry form will not obligate you to a visit but is just a starting point for further discussions. Such discussions will include institution specific arrangements.
