Our new website: An introduction for submitting providers

Data collection

Along with wading through thousands of quality rules to translate these into plain English, battling to change the HESA language of talking in acronyms and welcoming new kinds of providers to the world of data submission, HESA has been undertaking a complete transformation of our website.

Our new website does not mark a break with the past; rather it maintains our current focus on the quality of service we strive to provide.

We’ve refreshed and refocused our site in order to meet our strategic aim of enhancing the UK higher education data landscape.

The data you, as providers, submit to us is key in shaping the data landscape. Our new website does not mark a break with the past; rather it maintains our current focus on the quality of service we strive to provide.

The primary catalyst for the change has been our providers.

The primary catalyst for the changes has been our providers. We’ve had calls from HE providers that have been submitting data to HESA for 20 years for us to ‘move with the times’. We've also had comments from our new submitters who have had to contend with the impenetrable force-field of confusing terminology that surrounds HESA.

Through focus groups and consultations we hope that we have addressed the needs of your diverse organisations. We know that many of you are working on open collections and we have attempted to minimise disruption as much as possible.

We know that many of you are working on open collections and we have attempted to minimise disruption as much as possible.

We have aimed to migrate existing content and functionality, while creating a more accessible and responsive site with a robust navigation structure to make content easier to find.

You will find much of the content you need under the ‘Data collection’ heading above. If you are lost, take a look at the ‘Support guides’ for each collection: they have a section titled 'Where can I find...' which explains where resources can be found on the new site.
