HESA Student Record 2008/09

Student Associate Scheme (SAS) requirements

return to index

Version 1.0 Produced 2008-06-16

In light of discussions between the TDA Data Collection & Analysis Team, the TDA SAS Team and HESA, it was agreed that it was inappropriate to use the Student Record 2007/08 to collect data on students who took part in the SAS Scheme.

The primary reason for this is that the majority (75%) of students who took part in the SAS Scheme were enrolled at a different institution to the one managing their SAS programme. This meant that the data that was intended to be collected via the Student Record would have been incomplete, which would have had implications for the funding of the scheme and and would not have satisfied audit requirements.

For this reason, the collection in 2008/09 will also take place using the existing TDA web based system. Training in the use of this system will be available for all SAS providers in Autumn 2008.

It is intended that SAS students will be included in the Student Record from 2009/10 and HESA and the TDA Data Collection & Analysis and SAS Teams will work together so that a specification of the fields required for these students can be produced in due course.
