QuestionQ6. What was your annual pay for your main employment to the nearest thousand (£) before tax?

A numerical (xs:integer) value must be coded.

For example:

£15,000 should be coded as 15000

£6,000 should be coded as 6000

The information captured is for what the HE leaver considers to be their MAIN job.

A response to either Employment.SALARY or Employment.EMPUNPAID is expected if the following codes were used for Q1 Student.ALLACT 1 'Working full-time' or 2 'Working part-time'.

This field must be blank if the leaver has ticked the box indicating Unpaid work.

Students who complete Employment.SALARY and/or Employment.ESTEARN with currency other than £ (pounds) will need the HEI to convert the currency to £ before submitting data to HESA. This conversion can happen at any point during the DLHE schedule and does not need to be the exchange rate as at the census date. Students who are working part time should return in Employment.SALARY and then the number of hours worked in Employment.PTHOURS. There is no requirement for HEIs to create a full time equivalent salary for the leaver.
