Code 1 'Continued employment, new HESA contract record generated' should be used where the institution generates a new contract record following a change in the employment of a member of staff for example following a promotion.

Where a fixed term contract comes to an end often the staff member can become redundant, however in this scenario it is expected that code '3 End of fixed-term contract' is used in preference to code '5 Other redundancy'.

Contracts which end under TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006) arrangements should be coded as '9 Other (includes dismissal and ill-health)'.
