This field describes the course qualification.

All KISCourses where KISCourse.KISTYPE = 1 or 2.

This field uses a look up table for its list of valid entries, which sits outside the schema to enable maintenance without the need to re-issue a validation kit.

This field describes the type of qualification that will be obtained upon successful completion of the course.

This field will be used in conjunction with KISCourse.TITLE (KISCourse.TITLEW for institutions in Wales) and KISCourse.HONOURS to provide the KIS Course title. This will be displayed on the KIS widget and on the Unistats website.

If the qualification aim of the Course results in an honours degree KISCourse.HONOURS should be coded with 1 'This is an honours (Hons) degree course'.

The value returned in this field must match the valid entry listed in the look up table listed in the List of KIS Course Aims.

If a KISCourse.KISAIM is not present in the list, institutions should contact HESA, where the qualification will be added to the lookup table as part of a scheduled release. A qualification should not be an awarding body, such as BTEC.

This field must not be returned when KISCourse.KISTYPE = 3.
