This entity records information about work placements undertaken by certain types of learners in further education (FE) in England.

Instances at providers in England where Instance.FESTUMK = 1, 3 or 4 and Instance.REDUCEDI = 00 or 01 and Instance.COMDATE is on or after 01-08-2014 and Instance.FUNDMODEL is not equal to 99 and the associated learning aim relates to work experience.

The Learning Delivery Work Placement entity is used to collect additional data about a work placement that is being undertaken by a learner as part of a Traineeship or 16-19 study programme.

Data about work placements is collected by recording one of the non regulated learning aims listed in the Appendix document 'Learning Aim Class Codes' on the Individualised Learner Record (ILR) manual. A single learning aim should be recorded to reflect the total planned hours being undertaken by the learner during their study programme.

The indicated learning aims for 2014/15 are Z0007834, Z0007835, Z0007836, Z0007837, Z0007838 or Z0002347.

Each work experience learning aim must have one or more work placement records associated with it. If a learner undertakes multiple work placements during their Traineeship or study programme then separate work placement records will be recorded for each placement. This applies to work placements starting on or after 1 August 2014.
