This document summarises the main changes to the Staff record coding manual for 2015/16 as outlined in the Staff record circulars published in February 2015 and April 2015. Please note that any changes made to the 2015/16 Staff record after the release of the manual will be documented in the Revision history.
Coverage of the record
Atypical non-academic staff will no longer be included in the coverage of the record. It is anticipated that the removal of atypical non-academic staff will reduce the complexities that higher education providers (HEPs) face in collecting data from these members of staff.
A number of changes to parental leave legislation in the United Kingdom took effect from 5 April 2015. Shared Parental leave became a legal entitlement for eligible parents of babies due, or children placed for adoption which provides both parents with the opportunity to consider the best arrangement to care for their child during the child's first year. This change in legislation has led to the requirement for a new valid entry to Person.PARLEAVE which will be 4 'Shared Parental Leave'. There is also a requirement to increase in the maximum occurrences to 2 as a member of staff could be on Shared Parental Leave at the same time as another form of parental leave.
