Estates management record 2015/16 - Notification log

This document summarises all communications associated with the 2015/16 Estates management record, starting with the publication of known changes to the record in March 2016 all the way through to collection closure in March 2017.

HESA issue regular communications during the life of a collection:

  • Circulars: announcements to interested parties concerning or issues relating to the collection. Circulars are always made available on the HESA website for later reference, and emailed out to the mailgroup for the collection.
  • Coding manual release overviews: these document iterative changes to the technical documentation that define the form of the data to be submitted, as well as being a place to host resources associated with collecting that data.

2016-10-20 Coding manual release - version 1.2

Version 1.2 of the coding manual includes:

  • The Calculated data items containing a list of the data items that are automatically calculated in the webform.
  • The Derived field specifications applied by HESA to Estates management record data.
  • The Fixed database facility describing the process for submitting corrected data to HESA once the Estates management collection has closed.
  • The Nil return sign-off form that must be submitted to HESA when the higher education provider will not be returning Estates management record data.
  • The Quality rules which enforce the quality of the submitted data.
  • The Ratio definitions containing a list of the ratios produced by HESA together with a description of how they are calculated.

2016-09-01 Coding manual release - version 1.1

Version 1.1 of the coding manual includes the full technical specification of the record for the 2015/16 reporting period. The schema, field specifications, valid entries, and guidance are all now available. The changes announced previously for this collection have been implemented in the specification.

6 new data items have been added to the Estates management record following changes to the Finance collection. These are:

111 data items have been removed from the Estates management record. These include data items from the following entities:

Additional guidance added to Scope 3 carbon emissions from supply chain.

2016-04-28 Circular release 16/03 - April

This circular provides information on Supplementary Estates management record changes for 2015/16.

2016-03-03 Coding manual release - version 1.0

Version 1.0 of the coding manual publicises the circular which describes the agreed changes for the 2015/16 Estates management record.

2016-03-03 Circular release 16/02 - March

This circular provides information on the Estates management record changes for 2015/16. This circular sets out the results of the consultation process and summarises the changes that will be implemented for 2015/16.
