Applicable to | England Northern Ireland Scotland Wales |
Coverage | All HE leavers. |

Notes | Please note that Student.STATUS = 05 'HEP's student record' and Student.STATUS = 06 'HEP third party' should only be used if attempts to contact the leaver have failed (or attempts to speak with a third party if telephoning have also failed). It is important that the respondent, be it the leaver themselves, a third party or the higher education provider's (HEP's) own record, is able to answer all of the survey questions with respect to the leaver's activity in both study and employment on the census date. Further details on the use of other informed sources can be viewed in the Instructions for undertaking DLHE document. Where a response is gained through a third party or other informed source, including the HEP's own student record, the leaver must be excluded from the longitudinal follow-up. Code 07 'Deceased' should be used when the HEP is informed that the HE leaver has died. Code 08 'Reply received explicitly refusing to provide information' should be used only when the HEP has received explicit indication (verbally or in writing) from the leaver that they are not prepared to provide information for the survey or where a student completes the questionnaire with data that is obviously false and incorrect. |
