Finance record 2016/17 - Notification log
This document summarises all communications associated with the 2016/17 Finance collection, from first publication of known changes to the record through to collection closure. Please refer to the Revision history document for full technical list of changes to the specifications.
HESA issue regular communications during the life of a collection:
- Circulars: announcements to interested parties concerning or issues relating to the collection. Circulars are always made available on the HESA website for later reference, and emailed out to the mailgroup for the collection.
- Coding manual release overviews: these document iterative changes to the technical documentation that define the form of the data to be submitted, as well as being a place to host resources associated with collecting that data.
2017-11-27 Manual release - version 1.2
Guidance has been amended in the Coverage of the record to clarify that Tables 1-4 must reflect the HEP's audited/published financial statements and a link has been added to provide the BUFDG Model financial statements for reference.
Guidance has been amended in Table 3 - Consolidated balance sheet to clarify that swaps should not be returned under bank loans, but under the 'Other' Sub-heads within Heads 3 and 7.
Guidance has been added to Table 6 - Tuition fees and education contracts to state that postgraduate taught students in receipt of Postgraduate loans, the source of fees should be Other (Column 3).
2017-10-19 Manual release - version 1.1
This release includes the following changes:
- A non-interactive copy of the C16031 Finance template (xslx) for reference, please note that providers should not submit this document, as HESA provides pre-populated versions for providers to submit in the data collection system,
- The Derived field specifications.
Guidance has been added to Table 5 - Research grants and contracts, to provide information on research income from the government's Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF).
Guidance has been amended in Table 6 - Tuition fees and education contracts, to clarify split fee incomes in England and that for EU domicile students only a single fee income figure is required.
2017-08-24 Manual release - version 1.0
The full documentation for the tables has been released, encompassing all changes made to the collection since 2016/17.
KFI 10 has been removed from the Key Financial Indicator (KFI) definitions.
