This entity describes where and for how long a trainee is undertaking their school placement(s).

All instances at providers in England where Instance.ENTRYRTE = 01 and (Instance.REDUCEDI = 00 or 01) and (Instance.MODE is not 63 or 64).

ITT students are expected to have completed at least one placement. This detail needs to be entered against each trainee.

If a trainee carries out more placements than can be listed, please enter the top five in terms of time spent in total at each placement.

Notes from NCTL:

This data will not be used to measure statutory requirements, its purpose is to determine if there is any relationship between where a student completes placements and where they are subsequently employed as teachers.

Placements may be combined into a single entry for a single placement, as this adds weight to a placement in a particular school, and might lend weight to the reason a trainee ends up being employed.

To allow NCTL to track where trainees are on their placements, for statistical analysis and research.
