Please note that although EYITT was included in last year's ITT consultation, and the data items remain in the ITT and Student collections, NCTL require all EYITT data to be submitted via their own NCTL Data Management System. NCTL piloted Early Years Teacher Status records on the NCTLDMS for the 2015/16 and at the time of the previous consultation no decision had been made on whether to continue with this process. Only EYITT students who would ordinarily fall into the Student Record coverage need to be returned, however please note that NCTL are not expecting to utilise any of this data.

The National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) have defined five types of EYITT provision and these are listed below. Providers in England are required to include all students studying on any of these routes in their submission to HESA. The table below provides identifies which data items are used to identify the different EYITT routes and the valid entries applicable to each route. Many of the data items relevant to these students are applicable to both the Student record and the ITT record; treatment of EYITT students should be consistent between both returns.
