This entity records the relevant previous degree qualifications the student has gained, such as an undergraduate degree, masters or PhD etc. The NCTL would expect a student’s first degree and the qualification that awards them a higher level of bursary to be returned. The following example shows where a trainee would only qualify for a Tier 3 bursary if the bursary was based upon the first degree gained. Therefore adding the masters qualification and including it as the BURSFLAG will clearly indicate to the NCTL why a Tier 2 bursary payment has been selected in Student.BURSLEV.
