Alternative provider student 2016/17 - HEAPES population
Alternative provider student 2016/17
Fields required from institutions in England
return to field list
This field records whether the student instance meets the criteria for the HEFCE HEAPES return population for the reporting year.
Compulsory for all instance periods associated with designated courses or where designation is held at provider level. Optional for students on non-designated courses or where students on a designated course are dormant for the whole reporting year. Not required for providers in Scotland.
|Valid entries and labels|
Providers who do not make a HEAPES return to HEFCE need not assess their students for eligibility, and may return code NA 'Not applicable' in this field.
For providers who do make a HEAPES return, eligibility must be assessed for all students and coded as appropriate.
If the instance meets the criteria for the HEFCE HEAPES population for the relevant reporting year, regardless of whether or not it was included in the HEAPES data collection to HEFCE, it should be coded '1' in this field. Further guidance may be found on the HEFCE website. For example, the 2015/16 AP student record would relate to the HEAPES15 return.
The field is located on InstancePeriod to allow for those instances that undergo a change in their HEAPES status within the reporting period to be recorded as such.
Quality rules to follow
To set and monitor the student number control. Required as a transitional field due to lack of HESA data for previous years.
Data type: HEAPESPOPCodeContentType
|Change management notes||The coverage has been updated to allow for the return of students on a designated course, where they are dormant for the whole reporting year on an optional basis.|
