Funding bodies include: the Office for Students (OfS), Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW), Scottish Funding Council (SFC), the Northern Ireland Department for the Economy (DfE(NI)), Welsh Government DfES and The National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL).

UK central government/local authorities includes Government department, local education authority, NHS, and other public bodies funding.

Other overseas sources includes overseas governments and organisations, and non-UK based multinational organisations.

Joint sources includes funding where the split between two bodies is determined as 50:50 and so cannot be allocated to the largest source.
