Initial Teacher Training record 2017/18 - Notification log
This document summarises all communications associated with the 2017/18 Initial Teacher Training record, starting with the publication of known changes to the record all the way through to collection closure. Please refer to the Revision history document for full technical list of changes to the specifications.
HESA issue regular communications during the life of a collection:
- Circulars: announcements to interested parties concerning or issues relating to the collection. Circulars are always made available on the HESA website for later reference, and emailed out to the mailgroup for the collection.
- Coding manual releases: these document iterative changes to the technical documentation that define the form of the data to be submitted, as well as being a place to host resources associated with collecting that data.
2018-02-19 Coding manual release - version 1.8
The link in the Notes section to schools website has been updated in Student.SDEMPLOY and Student.SDLEAD data fields.
2018-01-25 Coding manual release - version 1.7
Reference to the former 'HIN' acronym in Student.NUMHUS data field has been replaced with 'UHN'.
2018-01-04 Coding manual release - version 1.6
The Coverage of the record has been updated to include that students on employment-based routes are not to be included in the HESA record.
2017-11-30 Coding manual release - version 1.5
Version 1.5 of the coding manual includes:
- The addition of valid entry 'MX.' for Student.TITLE
- Coverage statement and Notes section amended for Student.DISALL to reflect the removal of valid entries in Student.DISABLE field.
2017-10-12 Coding manual release - version 1.4
Version 1.4 of the coding manual includes:
- Guidance updates have been made to Instance.BURSLEV, Student.SDEMPLOY and Student.SDLEAD.
- Information in braces removed from the following fields Student.DOMICILE, Student.NATION and PreviousQualification.DEGCTRY.
2017-08-04 Coding manual release - version 1.3
Version 1.3 of the coding manual includes:
- Guidance updates have been made to Student.ITTSCHMS relating to SKE students.
2017-07-06 Coding manual release - version 1.2
Version 1.2 of the coding manual includes:
- Guidance updates have been made to Student.ENTRYRTE, Student.BURSLEV and Student.ITTSCHMS.
- Data collection schedule has been released under the 'Overview' section.
- 'Quality rules' and 'Validation kit' has been added under 'Submission process and quality assurance' section.
2017-04-27 Coding manual release - version 1.1
Version 1.1 of the coding manual includes the full technical specification of the record for the 2017/18 reporting period. The schema, field specifications, valid entries, and guidance are all now available.
As announced in the 2017/18 Notification of changes the following changes have been included in this release:
- Student.NQTEMAIL has been made compulsory for all students.
- Student.INITIATIVES field length has been increased to allow two characters.
- Valid entries changes have been made to Student.ITTPHSC, Student.DISABLE, Student.TTCID, Student.INITIATIVES, Student.ITTAIM and Student.ENTRYRTE.
- The following data fields, PreviousQualification.PGCECLSS and PreviousQualification.PGCESBJ have been renamed to Previous degree class (PreviousQualification.DEGCLSS) and Previous degree subject (PreviousQualification.DEGSBJ).
- Guidance updates have been made to Student.DISABLE, Student.BURSLEV, CourseSubject.SBJCA, Student.FUNDCODE.
- Two new fields have been added Student.SDLEAD and Student.SDEMPLOY as announced in the 2017/18 Notification of changes.
2017-02-14 Communication - version 1.0
Version 1.0 of the coding manual publicises changes for the 2017/18 ITT record.
This communication provides information about the agreed record changes for 2017/18. It sets out the results of the consultation process and summarises the changes that will be implemented for 2017/18.
