Graduate Outcomes Survey Results record 2017/18 - Notification log
This document summarises all communications associated with the 2017/18 Graduate Outcomes collection. Please refer to the Revision history document for full technical list of changes to the specifications.
HESA issue regular communications during the life of a collection:
- Circulars: announcements to interested parties concerning or issues relating to the collection. Circulars are always made available on the HESA website for later reference, and emailed out to the mailgroup for the collection.
- Coding manual release overviews: these document iterative changes to the technical documentation that define the form of the data to be submitted, as well as being a place to host resources associated with collecting that data.
2021-05-25 Coding manual release - Version 1.13
Version 1.13 includes the following:
- The field length of PROVSCORE has been increased to reflect data delivery.
2021-04-15 Coding manual release - Version 1.12
Version 1.12 includes the following:
- A link to a download detailing current Standard Occupational Classification (SOC 2020) used in classifying occupational information added under 'process and quality assurance'.
2021-03-25 Coding manual release - Version 1.11
Version 1.11 includes the following:
- The CHECKSUM field has been added to the Core Table, Optin Questions Table, SICSOC Table and Subjective Wellbeing Aggregate Provider Table specifications for file structures for downloadable files - survey results.
- The field ZSOC2020 has been added to the SICSOC Table specifications for file structures for downloadable files - survey results.
2020-05-22 Coding manual release - Version 1.10
Version 1.10 includes the following:
- New section on page 2 entitled "Re-issue of final delivery data" added in Guidance note on use of final provider survey data.
- Links for Text for emails and SMS messages have been amended under 'Information specific to the collection'.
- 'Required for a valid response' has been amended to 'No' in PREVUCNAME_OTHER.
- XACTIV03 has been removed from the Survey results pages.
2020-03-30 Coding manual release - Version 1.8
Version 1.9 includes the following:
- Field length of EMPCURRENCY has been increased from 2 to 3 to match data supply.

Version 1.8 includes the following:
- Guidance note on use of final provider survey data added under "Information specific to the collection".
- Provider delivery FAQs published under 'Information specific to the collection' to help answer provider's questions about the delivery of final survey data.
- The derived field specifications have been updated since the last coding manual release, more detail can be found in the derived fields revisions page.
2020-02-20 Coding manual release - Version 1.7
Version 1.7 includes the following:
- Collection Survey Results File updated to add Subjective Wellbeing Aggregate Provider table and update fields supplied in the Subjective Wellbeing Aggregate Sector table.
- Valid entries have been updated for MRSCHDEG.
- The derived field specifications have been updated since the last coding manual release, more detail can be found in the derived fields revisions page.
2020-02-04 Coding manual release - Version 1.6
Version 1.6 includes the following:
- First release of the Derived fields specification.
- First issue of Survey Results File specification.
- Introduction to the C18072 Survey Results record e-learning has been added to the manual.
- The coverage has been amended for SALARY.
- The guidance has been updated for STUCOUNTRY.
- The field length has been updated for BUSEMPCITY, BUSEMPCOUNTRY, BUSEMPCOUNTRY_OTHER, BUSEMPDUTIES, BUSEMPNAME, BUSEMPPCODE, BUSJOBDUTIES, BUSJOBTITLE, EMPCITY, EMPCOUNTRY_OTHER, EMPCURRENCY_OTHER, EMPDUTIES, EMPNAME, EMPPCODE, JOBDUTIES, JOBTITLE, PREVUCNAME_OTHER, PROVSCORE, STUCOUNTRY_OTHER, STUCOUNTRY and UCNAME_OTHER.

2019-11-07 Coding manual release - Version 1.4
Version 1.4 includes the following changes:
The Graduate.Study entity has had its coverage updated to include CONSTART02 = 1.
PROVSCORE data field has been changed to 200 character field length and STUINTENSITY has been added to Data supply.
Question for OptInQuestions.RSCHSKILLDEV has been updated to align it to Graduate Outcomes survey.
2019-08-08 Coding manual release - Version 1.3
Version 1.3 includes the following changes:
A change to MM - Burma [Myanmar] valid entry label has been made to Graduate.HOMECOUNTRY, Employment.EMPCOUNTRY, SelfEmpBusinessPortofolio.BUSEMPCOUNTRY and Study.STUCOUNTRY
Further guidance have been added to ACTIVITYTYPE data field in the SIC and SOC data supply.
The coverage for data field in OptInQuestions entity related to research has been modified to add a link to Instance.RCSTDNT

2019-06-28 Coding manual release - Version 1.2
A new section has been added to the Provider portal user guide under the heading 'Sector survey response rates'.
2019-06-20 Coding manual release - Version 1.1
Field attributes for AcivityType data field have been added to the SIC and SOC data supply file.
Links to SIC 2007 and SOC 2010 Classification structures have been added under 'Process and quality assurance' section in the home page.
Also, the following sections 'Quality Report', 'Using the web form - uploading and amending contact details' 'Survey results, and 'Identity system roles' section of the Provider Portal User Guide have been updated to add further clarification.
2019-05-14 Coding manual release - Version 1.0
Version 1.0 of the coding manual includes the full technical specification of the record for the 2017/18 reporting period. The file structures for downloadable fields including Data supply and SIC and SOC data supply. This release also includes the data fields specifications, valid entries, and guidance to use the survey raw data.
