Where the student has not transferred to a different learning aim within this instance the date will usually be the same as Instance.COMDATE. This includes if the student returns from an agreed break in learning. Where a student withdraws for another reason and then returns on the same learning aim a new engagement with a new learning aim start date will be required. If a transfer to a new learning aim takes place a new date will be required.

All date fields in the Student record must be completed using the ISO8601 format of YYYY-MM-DD. The specification of this field falls within the scope of the Aligned Data Definitions and follows the Data Standards in the HESA student record.
