Notes

In cases where there is more than one other provider providing teaching, the provider with the most input should be reported.

The identifier for the primary provider of teaching entered in this field must be obtained from the UK Register of Learning Providers (UKRLP).

The code returned in this field should reflect the provider active in the reporting year. Mergers that occur subsequent to the end of the reporting period need not be accounted for. For example: Provider A is a franchise provider during the reporting period. Provider A and Provider B merge to form Provider C after July 31st of the reporting period. The identifier for Provider A should be returned in TINST, as this is the provider tuition was franchised to during the reporting period, not Provider C. In cases where a UKPRN cannot be found for a subsequently-merged provider, please contact the Institutional Liaison team.

Submitted UKPRNs will be verified against a valid list obtained from the UKRLP, which includes discontinued codes.

If an appropriate UKPRN is not available, providers are able to use the generic codes:

Generic codes:

  • 4002 Other Non-UK provider
  • 4003 Other public body in the UK
  • 4004 Other private body in the UK

Code 4002 should be used for any body (educational or other) based outside the UK. This should also be used for Non-UK providers that have a UK campus, but no UKPRN.

If the provider is providing teaching at the workplace then no entry is required in this field. Where the provider is buying in teaching from another body, which could be the students employer, these cases will be identified by the codes 4003 and 4004.
