Unistats record 2019/20
Unistats record 2019/20 - Introduction
Version 1.2 Produced 2020-02-26
The Unistats record replaces the KIS record, which has been collected since 2012/13 from Higher Education Providers (HEPs) and Further Education Colleges (FECs).
Providers may resubmit their data at any point during the year and are encouraged to do this to reflect changes to their programmes.
Further policy information can be found on the OfS website.
The Unistats record is collected to help prospective higher education students make a decision about what and where to study. The emphasis of the coverage of the Unistats record is for any undergraduate course that someone can register for in the next academic year. Full details of the coverage of this record can be found in the coverage statement on the coding manual.
The Unistats record collects data about full and part-time undergraduate courses available for application for the next academic year, which is then joined to other datasets, such as National Student Survey outcomes, to generate a range of course information. This is currently published on the Unistats website and from September 2019 will be published on the Discover Uni website, as this is due to replace the Unistats website. The detail of the different items collected can be found in the Data items document located on the coding manual landing page.
The Unistats data is collected prospectively, reporting in May-August on courses which will be commencing in the following academic year. For example, the 2018 record included courses beginning in the 2019/20 academic year.
HESA Subscribers will submit data to HESA through the Data Collection System and FECs will submit data to OfS through the Extranet.
