Unistats record 2019/20 - Notification log
This document summarises all communications associated with the 2019/20 Unistats collection, from first publication of known changes to the record through to collection closure in July 2020. Please refer to the Revision history document for full technical list of changes to the specifications.
HESA issue regular communications during the life of a collection:
- Circulars: announcements to interested parties concerning or issues relating to the collection. Circulars are always made available on the HESA website for later reference, and emailed out to the mailgroup for the collection.
- Coding manual release overviews: these document iterative changes to the technical documentation that define the form of the data to be submitted, as well as being a place to host resources associated with collecting that data.
2020-06-24 Coding manual release - version 1.13
Accrediting bodies 'Chartered Institute for Archaeologists','Social Work England','Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)' and 'College of Policing' have been added to the Accreditation information table. Accreditation type text has also been amended for Accrediting body 'ScreenSkills'.
Figure 1 has been updated to show the new website 'Discover Uni' in Location.LOCNAME and Location.LOCNAMEW.
Covid-19 Exceptional guidance has been created for the C19061 Unistats record.
2020-02-26 Coding manual release - version 1.12
The following changes have been made to the Accreditation information table:
- The URL links for 029, 131, 141, 197, 204 accreditation bodies have been updated.
The URL within the Introduction to the Unistats record has been amended for OfS.
The Unistats output schema has been amended to include the changes made in CAH version 1.3.2.
2019-12-06 Coding manual release - version 1.11
Version 1.11 includes the following changes:
Guidance has been amended in the Notes section for KISCourse.UCASPROGID.
Guidance has been added to the Notes section for CourseLocation.UCASCOURSEID.
The following changes have been made to the Accreditation information table:
- The URL links for 013, 018, 046, 102, 105, 158, 165, 168, 170, 171, 185, 198 accreditation bodies have been updated,
- Guidance has been amended to accreditation body 131 and 200,
- Accreditation body 159 has been removed from the Accreditation Information table as requested by OfS.
2019-09-11 Coding manual release - version 1.10
Version 1.10 includes the following changes:
The details within the coverage has been changed.
The detailed requirements have been changed in the Data collection schedule as requested by OfS.
The detailed requirements have been changed in the Discover Uni widget user guide as requested by OfS.
The details within the List of KIS course aims has been changed.
The details within the Publication arrangements has been changed.
The details within the Subcontractual and collaborative provision has been changed.
The details within the Unistats dataset file structure and description has been changed.
The details within the Unistats output schema has been changed.
2019-08-14 Coding manual release - version 1.9
Version 1.9 includes the following changes:
The detailed requirements have been changed in the Data collection schedule as requested by OfS.
The detailed requirements have been changed in the Introduction to the Unistats record as requested by OfS.
A new KISAIM 194 has been added to the List of KIS course aims table.
2019-08-08 Coding manual release - version 1.8
Version 1.8 includes the following changes:
Guidance has been added to the Notes section for KISCourse.HECOS.
The following ACCTYPE 20501 has been added in the Accreditation information table.
OfS has published a new Discover Uni widget user guide
New Publication arrangements document has been released under 'Onward use of data'.
2019-07-12 Coding manual release - version 1.7
The following documentation has been added to the coding manual:
- Guidance has been added to the Notes section for KISCourse.HECOS.
- The URL for accreditation body 164 has been updated in the Accreditation information table.
- A new KISAIM 193 has been added to the List of KIS course aims table
2019-06-20 Coding manual release - version 1.6
C19061DataTypes.xsd file has been updated to add restrictions to LOCTYPE for schema to fail if the number enter doesn't match conditions.
The following changes have been made to the Accreditation information table:
- The URL link for 167 accreditation body
- New accreditation body '205 - Animal Health Professions’ Register (AHPR)' has been added
2019-05-30 Coding manual release - version 1.5
A nil return sign-off form has been added under the 'Submission process and quality assurance' section of the coding manual.
2019-04-26 Coding manual release - version 1.4
The following documentation has been added to the coding manual:
- The HESA XML data entry tool,
- The How to use the HESA XML data entry tool,
- The Quality rules,
- The Download validation kit,
- The Validation overview.
- The Coding manual release schedule has had two sub headers amended.
2019-04-17 Coding manual release - version 1.3
The following documentation has been added to the coding manual:
- The Linking to other datasets.
- The Accreditation information table.
- The Data requirements for new courses,
- The Subcontractual and collaborative provision,
- The List of KIS course aims,
- The Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies (PSRBs) and course accreditation guidance,
- The Publication arrangements documentation,
- The Years to which fields relate.
- The Unistats dataset file structure and description,
- The Unistats output schema.
2019-03-25 Coding manual release - version 1.2
The detailed requirements have been changed in the Data collection schedule as requested by OfS.
2019-03-21 Coding manual release - version 1.1
The dates have been changed in the Data collection schedule.
2019-03-18 Coding manual release - version 1.0
Version 1.0 of the coding manual includes the first release of documentation for Unistats record 2019/20. This includes the schema, field specifications and guidance as well as the changes announced previously for this collection in the Notification of changes for C19061.
