This document summarises all communications associated with the 2019/20 Graduate Outcomes collection. Please refer to the revision history document for full technical list of changes to the specifications.

HESA issue regular communications during the life of a collection:

• Circulars: announcements to interested parties concerning or issues relating to the collection. Circulars are always made available on the HESA website for later reference, and emailed out to the mailgroup for the collection.
• Coding manual release overviews: these document iterative changes to the technical documentation that define the form of the data to be submitted, as well as being a place to host resources associated with collecting that data.

2022-03-24 Coding Manual Release - Version 1.7

Version 1.7 includes the following:

• Valid entry labels for XBUS2020SOC, XEMP2020SOC and XWRK2020SOC updated to match SOC2020 revision 5 for codes 2252 and 3557.
• Download of SOC2020 codes updated to match SOC2020 revision 5 for codes 2252 and 3557.

2022-02-02 Coding Manual Release - Version 1.6

Version 1.6 includes the following:

• Publication of the file structures for downloadable files - Survey results for the C19072 end of survey delivery. (Note that STARTMODE and COMPLETIONMODE are included in the end of survey delivery file for the first time in the C19072 delivery)
• Field length increased for the following fields to reflect survey results delivery BUSJOBDUTIES, BUSJOBTITLE, EMPDUTIES, JOBDUTIES, PREVCOURSENUM and PREVJOBNUM.

2021-09-27 Coding Manual Release - Version 1.4

Version 1.4 includes the following change:

• A guidance note on the use of raw survey data has been added under the section 'information specific to the collection'.
• The field SURVEYSTATUS has been removed from the coding manual as this field is only used for the operation of the Graduate Outcomes survey and is not included in data supply files.
• New valid entries have been added to PREVUCNAME and UCNAME.
• The 'long name' of the following fields has been amended to remove reference to 'portfolio employer' so that it matches the coverage of the field (the questions pertaining to these fields are not asked if the survey respondent only selects 'portfolio'): BUSCOMPFUND1, BUSCOMPFUND2, BUSCOMPFUND3, BUSCOMPFUND4, BUSCOMPFUND5, BUSCOMPFUND6, BUSEMPCITY, BUSEMPCOUNTRY, BUSEMPDUTIES, BUSEMPNAME, BUSEMPPCODE, BUSEMPPCODE_UNKNOWN, BUSEMPPLOC, BUSOWNEMP and BUSSUPERVISE.
• Coverage has been updated for the following fields to clarify when survey routing results in data in these field being requested: BUSCOMPFUND1, BUSCOMPFUND2, BUSCOMPFUND3, BUSCOMPFUND4, BUSCOMPFUND5, BUSCOMPFUND6, BUSOWNEMP, EMPBASIS, MULTIJOB, NHSORG, QUALREQ

2021-04-06 Coding Manual Release - Version 1.3

Version 1.3 includes the following changes:

• Valid entries have been published for the following fields to match the options in the corresponding drop down list presented within the survey for PREVUCNAME and UCNAME.

2020-02-08 Coding Manual Release - Version 1.2

Version 1.2 includes the following change:

• The link to the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) provided under 'Process and quality assurance' has been updated to reflect the latest ONS publication.

2020-12-10 Coding Manual Release - Version 1.1

Version 1.1 includes the following changes:

• Question text updated to match corresponding change to the survey for EMPCITY, EMPCURRENCY, EMPCOUNTRY, EMPPCODE, EMPPLOC, BUSEMPCITY, BUSEMPCOUNTRY, BUSEMPPCODE and BUSEMPPLOC.
• The coverage of the question has been extended for BUSEMPCOUNTRY and EMPCOUNTRY.
• Specifications for the reports Provider survey response rate 'Report 2' and Sector survey response rate 'Report 2' have been updated in the Provider Portal User Guide to reflect the transition from JACS to HECoS.

2020-10-28 Coding Manual Release - Version 1.0

Version 1.0 of the coding manual includes the full technical specification of the record, along with supporting documentation for the 2019/20 reporting period.

Version 1.0 includes the following changes:

• Updated valid entries for EMPCURRENCY, INTLMOB and PLCINTSHP.
• The removal of BUSEMPCOUNTRY_OTHER, COLLSUBSAME, EMPCOUNTRY_OTHER, EMPCURRENCY_OTHER, HOMECOUNTRY_OTHER, KNOWSKILDEV, STUCOUNTRY_OTHER and WRKOWN (this data is no longer collected).
• The minimum occurrence for STUCOUNTRY has been updated to one.
• The questions that result in the population of the following fields have been updated to provide greater clarity COLLOUT, COLLSUBDIFF, INTLMOB and PLCINTSHP.
