This document summarises all communications associated with the 2020/21 Graduate Outcomes collection. Please refer to the revision history document for full technical list of changes to the specifications.

HESA issue regular communications during the life of a collection:

• Circulars: announcements to interested parties concerning or issues relating to the collection. Circulars are always made available on the HESA website for later reference, and emailed out to the mailgroup for the collection.
• Coding manual release overviews: these document iterative changes to the technical documentation that define the form of the data to be submitted, as well as being a place to host resources associated with collecting that data.

2023-08-10 Coding Manual Release - Version 1.7

Version 1.7 of the coding manual includes:

• Specification updated for derived fields XACTMEAN, XACTONTRACK and XACTSKILLS
• Derived fields XBUS2020SOC, XEMP2020SOC and XWRK2020SOC labels updated to align with SOC2020 v8.

2022-11-15 Coding Manual Release - Version 1.6

Version 1.6 of the coding manual includes:

• Publication of the collection survey results file specification for 20072 delivery (under file structures for downloadable files).
• Specification of derived fields ZBUSAREA and ZEMPAREA have been updated.
• Specification of valid entry labels for derived fields XBUS2020SOC, XEMP2020SOC and XWRK2020SOC have been updated.
• Guidance note on the use of raw survey data has been updated.

2022-07-28 Coding Manual Release - Version 1.5

Version 1.5 of the coding manual includes:

• Publication of the specification of derived fields to be included in 20072 delivery.

2022-05-25 Coding Manual Release - Version 1.4

Version 1.4 of the coding manual includes the following changes:

• The commencement date for surveying each cohort has been corrected in the coverage of the record.
• A typographic error in the label of valid entry 04 for EMPPLOC has been corrected.
• Valid entries have been updated for PREVUCNAME and UCNAME to include new providers.

2022-04-06 Coding Manual Release - Version 1.3

Version 1.3 of the coding manual includes the following change:

• The survey questions pertaining to the C20072 collection have been published.

2022-03-24 Coding Manual Release - Version 1.2

Version 1.2 of the coding manual includes the following changes:

• The label for valid entry E09000001 has been changed from 'London' to 'City of London' for BUSEMPCITY and EMPCITY.
• Guidance has been enhanced to clarify that when 'other' is selected the survey respondent is prompted to complete a 'free text' field in answer to BUSEMPCITY and EMPCITY.
• Valid entries have been updated for PREVUCNAME and UCNAME to include new provider and to reflect name change of existing provider.

2021-12-21 Coding Manual Release - Version 1.1

Version 1.1 of the coding manual includes the following changes:

• The updated specification of the data supply files available for download via the Graduate Outcomes portal.

• The field lengths specified for the following fields in the data supply file have been updated to match changes to the survey specification for the c20072 collection: BUSEMPCITY, BUSEMPDUTIES, BUSEMPNAME, BUSJOBDUTIES, BUSJOBTITLE, EMPCITY, EMPDUTIES, EMPNAME, EMPYEAR, JOBDUTIES, JOBTITLE and SALARY.
• The fields providing details of the STARTMODE and COMPLETIONMODE for survey respondents have been added to the data supply file.

2021-11-16 Coding Manual Release - Version 1.0

Version 1.0 of the coding manual includes the full technical specification of the record, along with supporting documentation for the 2020/21 reporting period.

Version 1.0 includes the following changes:

• The survey routing diagram has been updated to reflect changes made to the survey for the c20071 / c20072 collections.
• Guidance for BUSEMPCOUNTRY, EMPCOUNTRY, HOMECOUNTRY and STUCOUNTRY has been updated to provide consistency between current HESA collections.
• Coverage for ACTMEAN, ACTONTRACK, ACTSKILLS, EMPBASIS, EMPCURRENCY, EMPDUTIES, EMPINTENSITY, EMPNAME, EMPPLOC, EMPYEAR, JOBDUTIES, JOBTITLE, MULTIJOB, NHSORG, QUALREQ, SALARY, STUCOUNTRY, STUINTENSITY, STUMEAN, STUONTRACK, STUSKILLS, TYPEQUAL, UCNAME, WRKMEAN, WRKONTRACK and WRKSKILLS has been updated.
• Question wording for ALLACT01, EMPBASIS and EMPYEAR has been updated.
• Valid entries for EMPYEAR, PREVTYPEQUAL and TYPEQUAL have been updated.
