This field is used to indicate for what reason the student left the student instance detailed in this return.

All students where Student.ENDDATE is completed.

Leaving information for Student.ENDDATE and Student.RSNEND must be submitted where a student has left the ITT course.
Where a student has left the ITT course before the DfE census date of 2nd Wednesday in October, the leaving information will indicate that the student must be excluded from the DfE census.

This field is identical to the Leaver.RSNENGEND field in the Student record.

Providers should only complete this field where they are completing a student instance.

If a student gains a qualification after completing a course, but not the qualification they were aiming for, then they should be coded 01 'Left and awarded credit or a qualification'.

Code 98 'Left but award of credit or a qualification not yet known' implies that there will be further returns for the student - through a dormant record for example - to report results and reason for leaving.

Codes 02, 04, 06, 07, 08, 09 and 10 have been removed and replaced by Code 11 'Other (left but without being awarded credit or a qualification)'. An entry in this field means that an entry in Student.ENDDATE will also be expected.
