This field records the LDCS (Learn Direct Classification System) code(s) for the course.

FECs where no ILRAims or HESACourse entities exist.

This field will be used to determine what level of study to include from Graduate Outcomes and NSS data where no ILRAims or HESACourse entities exists for this KISCourse.

This field can only be returned if a provider is a further education college.

For the C22061 collection, HESA are asking all providers, including Further Education Colleges (FECs), to include HECoS codes in their returns for new courses wherever possible. FECs are able to return LDCS codes but encouraged to include HECoS codes. For information, any providers submitting course data to UCAS can find the HECoS codes in UCAS Unistats reports downloads: course and prog IDs are in columns D and E; HECoS codes are in columns R-V.

As set out in the C22061 Notification of changes, the Office for Students is asking for the return of HECoS codes for all new courses from the C23061 collection.

The valid code structure is two alpha characters then a full stop followed by up to 6 numeric characters.

This field is required when ILRAims or HESACourse entities are missing (i.e. for new courses).
