Unistats record 2023/24 - Notification log.
This document summarises all communications associated with the 2023/24 Unistats collection, from first publication of known changes to the record through to collection closure in July 2024. Please refer to the revision history document for full technical list of changes to the specifications.
HESA issue regular communications during the life of a collection:
- Circulars: announcements to interested parties concerning or issues relating to the collection. Circulars are always made available on the HESA website for later reference, and emailed out to the mailgroup for the collection.
- Coding manual release overviews: these document iterative changes to the technical documentation that define the form of the data to be submitted, as well as being a place to host resources associated with collecting that data.
2023-12-06 Coding manual release - version 1.6
The Discover Uni dataset (formely Unistats) file structure and description has been released under the 'Supporting documentation' section.
The Discover Uni dataset (formely Unistats) has been added under the 'Onward use of data' section.
The Unistats output schema has been released under the 'Data specification' section.
Updates have been made to the accreditation information table on the 2023-09-28 and 2023-12-06.
2023-09-21 Coding manual release - version 1.5
The discover uni widget user guide has been updated following guidance updates made by OfS.
2023-08-31 Coding manual release - version 1.4
The discover uni widget user guide has been released under the 'Onward use of data' section.
2023-08-23 Coding manual release - version 1.3
Dates within the data collection schedule have been updated.
Link to example website has been updated for Location.LATITUDE and Location.LONGITUDE
Updates have been made to the accreditation information table on the 2023-07-26.
List of KIS course aims has been updated.
2023-07-12 Coding manual release - version 1.2
The unistats widget user guide has been removed from the coding manual.
2023-05-04 Coding manual release - version 1.1
Version 1.1 includes the following:
Guidance has been updated within the data collection schedule to reflect the name change of the Unistats dataset to the Discover Uni dataset.

Guidance updates have been made for the fields Accreditation.ACCTYPE, CourseLocation.LOCID and Location.LOCID
2023-02-22 Coding manual release - version 1.0
Version 1.0 includes the following:
- LOCIDType has been updated within C23061DataTypes.xsd to match the equivalent datatype in 22056. (2023-02-27)
- The first release of documentation for Unistats record 2022/23.
- The data collection schedule has been released under 'Overview'.
- The UCAS and HESA glossary for Unistats course management and UCAS and HESA Unistats process for providers C23061 (2023/24) documents have been released under the 'Supporting documentation' section.
- The support guides have been added under the 'Support Guides' section.
- Guidance updates for Location.LOCNAME.
- Valid entry updates and field length updated for KISCourse.TTCID.
- Field length has been updated for CourseLocation.LOCID and Location.LOCID
- KISCourse.LDCS has been removed.
