Notes

This field must be returned where the StudentCourseSession is charged a fee that is not regulated. The definition of a regulated fee is that used by the relevant funding body or regulator.

Any students where the provider has complete discretion over the fee charged should be coded 01 'Non-regulated fee'.

Providers are not required to adjust this field to account for individual waived fees.

The only postgraduate students who should be subject to regulated fees, and so not flagged here, are those:

  • Students studying postgraduate initial teacher training courses, such as PGCEs

  • Students on a full-time course in preparations for a professional examination at postgraduate level, for which a first degree is not a normal entry requirement. This applies to students on a course leading to Part 1 and 2 of the Royal Institute of British Architects examination, for whom undergraduate level fees are payable

All other postgraduate StudentCourseSessions should be coded 01 'Non-regulated fee'.

Providers in Scotland

For students at providers in Scotland, a regulated fee refers to the standard tuition fees paid by Scottish and other EU students or the deregulated tuition fees applicable to rest of UK students who entered in or after 2012/13.
Regulated fees do not cover postgraduate research students.
