Notes | The definition of a service student to be used is that agreed upon by the Scotland Hub of the Service Children's Progression Alliance: "A person who has a parent or carer who served or is serving in the regular or reservist British Armed Forces (Royal Navy; Royal Marines; British Army; or Royal Air Force) at any point during the first 25 years of that person's life." This information should be updated throughout a students Engagement where applicable. |

Reason required | Like veterans, Service children or children of military families are also one of SFC's 'At Risk' groups. These are students at risk of not achieving their full potential, from aspirations through to successful outcomes and appropriate employment. SFC asks Scottish HE providers to sign up to the Armed Forces Covenant which is a promise from the nation to ensure that those who serve or who have served, and their families, are treated fairly. The Covenant covers all those who form the 'Armed Forces Community' which includes spouses, civil partners and children. The data would enable HE providers, SFC and other public bodies to make informed decisions about how to improve the higher education opportunities and experiences for students from service families. | ||||||||||
