| Notes | In most cases this field records the major source of the fees recorded in StudentCourseSession.INVOICEFEEAMOUNT, however there are some exceptions for sources of tuitions fees that are of particular interest to the users of this data. Student Loans Company (SLC) Where the SLC pays a students fee in full or pays the majority of the fee, 5026 SLC would be returned in this field. If there is a split between the SLC and the students own funds, then 5026 SLC would be returned. If there is a split between the SLC and another source (other than the students own funds), the other source should be recorded in this field. If the student is known to be using a postgraduate loan from the SLC to pay their fees, 5026 SLC should be returned in this field. If the student is paying their fees directly to the provider and it is not known whether they are using a postgraduate loan (or another source) to do so, 5050 Fee paid by student should be returned. If the student is receiving any funding from the SLC, the Student.SSN field must be returned. 5050 'Fees paid by student' Valid entry 5050 'Fees paid by student' should be returned where the full cost of the StudentCourseSession was paid for by the student i.e. where there is no award, fee loan or financial backing at all. Where there is another source for the tuition fees, even if this is a minor source compared with the contribution of the student, this field should be recorded to reflect the other source of tuition fees. 5028 'Student's employer' 5028 'Students employer' should be used in preference to other codes where it is known that the source of the tuition fees is the student's employer. For example, if the student is employed by a charitable foundation that pays their fees, 5028 should be returned rather than 5030 'Other charitable foundation'. School Direct programmes (Non-Early Years Initial Teacher training programmes) The Department of Education (DfE) has provided some guidance for instances associated with the School Direct programme. For School Direct salaried students (Engagement.ENTRYRTE =03), HESAID must be returned as 5028 'Student's employer'. For School Direct tuition fee students (Engagement.ENTRYRTE =02), HESAID must be returned as the appropriate source of the tuition fees. 5008 DfE(NI) This code should be used for students that the DfE(NI) fund directly, such as some PhD enrolments. |
