HE Provider Data: Estates Management

Environmental information for UK higher education providers is collected as part of the Estates management record and published in the tables below. The tables include data for the academic years 2015/16 to 2021/22.

These tables contain a lot of data. The 'Show' dropdown boxes allow you to pick a data category - this will change the table columns to display the different metrics collected for that category. It is worth noting that should you wish to download the source data from any of the tables, the same CSV file will be downloaded, containing all the data published. This is different to our other outputs.

From 2019/20, the entire Estates management record (EMR) became optional for HE providers in England and Northern Ireland to return, whilst it remained statutory for HE providers in Wales. For HE providers in England and Northern Ireland who chose to make an EMR return and for HE providers in Wales, there were several mandatory data items, which are highlighted in the data definitions. The entire collection remained optional for HE providers in Scotland. For the 2020/21 Estates management record, 134 out of the 282 providers returned data. For the 2021/22 Estates management record, 135 out of the 285 providers returned data and 4 providers were a "null" return i.e. the provider opted in to collection but no data was submitted.

The three month extension to the EMR data collection deadline introduced from 2019/20 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic was removed for the 2021/22 collection.
