Higher Education Statistics for the UK – consultation summary
The purpose of the online consultation was to inform the proposed changes to the HESA National Statistics product Higher Education Statistics for the UK. We have committed to making our statistics more useful and accessible. We are therefore proposing to change the way Higher Education Statistics for the UK is published from 2017. In summary we propose to release all the same content free of charge in tranches throughout the year as each stream of data becomes available.
HESA report helps councils plan for students and graduates
HESA has developed a new data report offering information on the impact of higher education (HE) at the local level. Designed for local authorities, the HE Impact: Local Level Report collates information on the movement of students and graduates into and out of local areas.
Statement on the use of HESA staff data
HE providers return data about all their staff contracts to HESA. The HESA staff record is a measure of universities’ resources collected on behalf of the HE funding bodies for their monitoring purposes. The data does not distinguish ‘zero hours’ contracts or measure the ‘precariousness’ of individuals’ employment as this is not the purpose of the data collection.
