This is the Data Landscape Steering Group (DLSG) logical model that was built out of the Higher Education Data and Information Improvement Programme (HEDIIP) data language project. We have taken this model and coloured it by segment.

This version includes all the entities and attributes of a sector-wide model which is significantly more than the proposed collection - please see Implementation. The colours represent the segments as shown below.
Reference data (S0) – data items that relate to organisations involved with data collection and other contextual information: Orange
Courses and Modules (S1) – data items that relate to courses, modules and qualifications that a provider is involved in delivering: Blue
Registration (S2) – data items relating to a contract to educate between a student and provider: Light green
Enrolment (S3) – data items relating to a student’s commitment to undertake a specific course session: Red
Learning event (S4) – data items covering a student’s module activity, outcomes and off-venue activity: Dark Green
Outcome (S5) – data items relating to a student ending a registration which would typically result in qualifications and accreditations awarded: Mid Green
Funding (S6) - data items that are specific to funding, financial support and student specific fee information: Light blue
Nothing else has changed on this model. It is included to show the lineage from the original model to one that is split by segments.
These segments are described in greater detail in the implementation model. This model will continue to evolve to represent the true entities and relationships within the HE sector while implementation models can be thought of as physical collection models.
