Initial Teacher Training 2022/23 (C22053) Notification of Changes
Published: 31/01/2022
This page summarises the changes to the ITT record that will be implemented for 2022/2023 (C22053)
As the ITT record will continue to run as a separate return, the changes to the record are being made so that ITT will align as closely as possible with Data Futures. The aim being to help reduce the amount of data that providers will need to collect.
These changes are in addition to the Initial Teacher Training 2022/23 (C22053): Notification of changes to personal characteristics data
Schema change
The XSD will be in alphabetical order. As previously advised in the C21053 Notification of Changes
This change will only impact the position of two fields - Placement.PLMNTSCH and Placement.PLMNTDYS. Their position will be swapped.
Guidance / format change
The coverage and format of the field will be updated to allow providers to return SID for new students or HUSID for continuing students
Schema change to match Data Futures to increase field length to 17 and enforce the return of either 13 or 17 digits
Quality rules will be updated to ensure that a 13 digit HUSID is for continuing students only based on COMDATE
Schema change to increase field length to 50 to allow same number of characters for a COURSEID to match Data Futures
Schema change to increase field length to 50 to allow same number of characters for NUMHUS to match Data Futures
Schema change to increase field length to 50 to allow same number of characters for OWNSTU to match Data Futures
The field name and guidance will be changed to read Student.TRN the same as Data Futures

New fields
This is a new field that has been added due to the removal of SPLENGTH and UNITLENGTH to align with Data Futures. In Data Futures the equivalent field (ENGEXPECTEDENDATE) is part of the Engagement entity but for ITT it will be part of the Student entity to remain consistent with the rest of the ITT record structure.
Name Expected end date
Short Name EXPECTEDENDDATE
Parent Entity Student
Type Field
Applicable To England
Coverage All Students where there is a defined normal length for the programme of study
Description This field records the expected end date for the Instance
Notes
For taught students, this should include any planned assessment periods but not retakes.
For research students where the programme includes a planned writing-up period, this should be included in the expected period of study.
This field does not need to be returned where there is not a defined normal length for the programme of study, for example fully flexible courses.
This field must be updated where there are any changes to the expected end date of the Instance. Examples will include but are not limited to:
-
Students transferring between courses with different expected end dates
-
Students deciding to take or not take a sandwich placement
-
Students taking an agreed break in learning
-
Students needing to resit part of their course
All date fields must be completed using the ISO8601 format of YYYY-MM-DD.
Reason Required
To allow a forecast of when an Instance is expected to end and compare this to the actual end date. This helps to identify any issues that may arise due to errors or late QTS awards and to forecast the number of trainees due to complete in a given period.
Field Length 10
