OfS recommends HESA as designated data body

Today the Office for Students has confirmed that HESA is the right organisation to perform the duties of the Designated body for English higher education information.  In a letter to the Secretary of State, the OfS officially recommends that HESA is designated as the data body in England.

This letter of recommendation follows the consultation response which was published earlier this week.  The Department for Education notes that there was “overwhelming support for HESA as a body that is credible and suitable to fulfil the role of the Designated data body”.

Of the respondents, 99% confirmed that HESA is capable of meeting all the designation conditions.

Paul Clark, Chief Executive of HESA said:

“I should like to thank the sector for the support that HESA received in its bid to become the designated data body.

“We look forward to the opportunity to continue to represent providers across the higher education sector.”
