HESA confirmed as designated body for English higher education information
We are delighted to have received our notification of designation today. In a letter, published on the DfE website, HESA was confirmed as the Designated Data Body under the Higher Education and Research Act 2017.
With an effective date of 1 April 2018 we are looking forward to our work with the Office for Students beginning soon.
Paul Clark, Chief Executive of HESA said:
“We are pleased to reach this milestone. For HESA to be named as the designated data body is a fantastic achievement, and is a testament to the huge amount of work from colleagues at HESA.
“Ensuring that the HE sector is supported by timely and useful data has always been the key focus for HESA, and we will continue to do this through our future work with the OfS.
“We are looking forward to the opportunity to work with the OfS to shape the data underpinning the new regulatory framework, and to provide relevant information to promote student choice and engage the public.
Professor Chris Husbands, Chair of the HESA board said:
“This is a significant positive development for HESA, and I believe for the sector as a whole.
“High-quality, timely data is more important than ever for higher education and its stakeholders, and I am delighted that HESA’s outstanding expertise will continue to play a role in this area.
