Save the date - Data Matters conference 16 January 2019

On 16 January 2019 the Data Matters conference will welcome data practitioners, quality professionals and digital service specialists to discuss topical issues around data and its use in higher education.

Delegates will learn from peers via workshops and practical sessions, with experts and thought leaders providing valuable insights. A range of workshops will explore:

  • Insights from the student digital tracker; what have we learnt to improve your students’ experience?
  • Data informed approaches to students’ well-being
  • Making Data Futures a reality
  • ‘One version of the truth’ - the hard yards of data governance
  • Intelligent campus
  • Combining words with numbers: insight from surveys and qualitative data
  • Research, including social media and its use for quality

Over 240 delegates attended the first Data Matters conference, positively responding to the event:

"It was really good to be reminded how much data matters, and that it really does matter - talking to others working in this area and hearing their experience."

"I liked the range of attendees and the speakers were all very good. There was a lot of choice within the overall concept of "data", reflecting the centrality of this concept at the moment."

The conference will provide opportunities to network, learn, collaborate and gain the insight and expertise that will help break down barriers within your institution.

Make digital work for you and your students. Make the best of your data and convey the story it tells. And ultimately turn data into insight. If you are a higher education professional who works with, or are interested in the usage of data, this is a day not to be missed.

The conference is jointly run by the M5 Group - QAA, Jisc and HESA, who are UK higher education’s data, quality and digital experts. We have one overarching aim: improving the student experience in a data-driven world.

Further information and instructions on how to register will be available on the QAA website shortly. If you have any questions about the event, please email Jennie Walmsley at QAA.
