HE providers return data about all their staff contracts to HESA. The HESA staff record is a measure of universities’ resources collected on behalf of the HE funding bodies for their monitoring purposes. The data does not distinguish ‘zero hours’ contracts or measure the ‘precariousness’ of individuals’ employment as this is not the purpose of the data collection.

The Collection Design Project phase V1 feedback has demonstrated the overall benefits and impact for providers, which will be consolidated and built upon by V2 of the design phase.

The M5 group is thinking creatively and long-term about improvements we can deliver. But there are also some immediate deliverables that we will be implementing over the next few months.

Today marks the next key stage in the destinations and outcomes review. We have published the synthesis of consultation responses as well as the reports of two research projects, commissioned by HEFCE to support the review.

Responses to the consultation support the idea of a universal graduate survey, but with changes to content and timing. Initial analysis of the 208 responses will be used to develop firm proposals which will be put out for further consultation.

The Collection Design Project: feedback from the workshops and v1 of the design phase

HESA’s expertise in data and analysis is recognised around the world. Last week our Chief Executive Paul Clark spent three days in Albania discussing reform of their higher education sector and advising the government on implementing a new data-driven system.  

We'll be using our site to explain, discuss and invite challenge on our emerging approach to data collection and onward use. This will include draft schedules and specifications, open questions, review points and frequently asked questions.

We believe that our new site represents a significant step forward in making our services easier to access and use, making data and analysis on the UK higher education sector easier to find, and improving understanding of how HESA benefits all organisations with an interest in UK higher education
