Notes | The location of a staff member’s employment following the end of their employment at the reporting higher education provider (HEP) should be returned in this field. Only instances where the member of staff has retired should record the location of residence. Officially, the Crown Dependencies of Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man are not part of the UK or the EU. However, for HESA analysis purposes they are often grouped with and generally assumed to be part of the United Kingdom and so Valid entry code 5 should be used. Leaving information gained via a third party such as Linkedin or other social media should not be used as a reliable source of data. This information should be obtained through a leaving survey (template exit survey). Valid entry code 8 should be used when a member of staff does not know the information. Valid entry code 9 should be used when a member of staff has explicitly refused to provide the information. Valid entry code 10 should be used when the provider does not know the information e.g. the staff member did not respond to the request for information. |
