Student record 2016/17 - Derived field specifications
The zip file below contains the PDF specifications of derived fields created by HESA for internal and statutory customer use. They are provided as a courtesy to aid in understanding the onwards usage of data. They may be subject to updating during the collection year, until the database for the collection closes.
Output fields
An 'X' prefix is used to identify those fields which are created for long-term analytical use of the data.

Processing fields
'Processing' fields are created within the collection cycle to aid both HESA and HEPs in the processing and quality assurance of the submitted data, for example in Credibility reporting or downloadable data supply files. Processing fields may also be created to assist in combining data sets (e.g. Unistats).
