This field is mandatory for HE providers in England, Northern Ireland or Wales. This field is the sum total of the component fields:
Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions biofuels It is expected that each of the component fields listed above (but not those for vehicle emissions) can be linked to non-residential and residential space. Providers should therefore allocate the emissions recorded in the fields above to residential or non-residential space respectively. The provider then records the allocations in the following fields: Non-residential scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions total and Residential scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions total. Vehicle emissions must not be allocated to the residential or non-residential total fields, as this ensures that the scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions from vehicles are not double counted within Total scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions. It is therefore expected that: This calculation is also represented in the diagram below. HESA will use this calculation in data quality checks to determine whether providers have calculated these fields correctly.
