Code 1 'Continued employment, new HESA contract record generated' should be used where the higher education provider (HEP) generates a new contract record following a change in the employment of a member of staff for example following a promotion.

Where a fixed term contract comes to an end often the staff member can become redundant, however in this scenario it is expected that code '3 End of fixed-term contract' is used in preference to code '5 Other redundancy'.

Code 10 'Non Academic contract issued' this code is to be used by providers in England and Northern Ireland not opted into the voluntary submission of staff outside of the coverage, when the staff member moves from an academic post to a non-academic contract, taking them out of the coverage of the record.
