This field records the gender identity of the member of staff, on the basis of their own self-assessment. The field identifies whether the current gender identity is that assigned at birth.

Gender identity is recorded on the basis of the member of staff's own self-assessment.
Guidance question: Is the gender you identify with the same as your sex registered at birth?
Staff should be presented with this question every year.
It is recommended that this question should be asked alongside the sex identifier question.
Prefer not to say – staff member doesn’t want to declare the information.
Not available – the provider is not able to get this data in order to send it to HESA.
