Finance record 2022/23 - Notification log

This document summarises all communications associated with the 2022/23 Finance collection, from first publication of known changes to the record through to collection closure. Please refer to the revision history document for full technical list of changes to the specifications.

HESA issue regular communications during the life of a collection:

  • Circulars: announcements to interested parties concerning or issues relating to the collection. Circulars are always made available on the HESA website for later reference, and emailed out to the mailgroup for the collection.
  • Coding manual release overviews: these document iterative changes to the technical documentation that define the form of the data to be submitted, as well as being a place to host resources associated with collecting that data.

2024-01-10 Manual release - version 1.3

This release of the coding manual includes the following:

  • The quality rules have been added under the 'Submission process and quality assurance' section.
  • The C22031 Finance template (xlsx) has been updated to include additional headings.
  • Table 6 - Funding council grants and other income (specific countries) - Guidance for 'Other grants from UK funding bodies' has been added for Northern Ireland and Scotland and updated for Wales. Guidance for 'Total funding body grants' has been added for Northern Ireland.

    • 2023-11-01 Manual release - version 1.2

    This release of the coding manual includes the following:

  • The C22031 Finance template (xlsx) has been added under the downloadable files section.

    • 2023-09-27 Manual release - version 1.1

    This release of the coding manual includes the following:

  • Derived field specifications have been added under the downloadable files section.
  • Table 6 - Funding council grants and other income (specific countries) - Heads 1g and 1h for Wales have been renamed and their guidance updated to add clarification.
  • The links have been updated for HEFCW - Accounts direction in Table 10 - Head of provider remuneration, Table 11 - Analysis of staff costs and Table 12 - Severance payments.

    • 2023-06-28 Manual release - version 1.0

    This is the first release of the coding manual, containing the following documentation and significant changes:
