Latest collection design proposal launched

Version 2 of the Collection Design Project is a major milestone in the Data Futures programme to create a more efficient and timely approach to data collection across the higher education sector.

The proposals in Version 2 of the project are the result of earlier consultation on underlying principles. This consultation is the first presentation of a full model of student data collection to meet the needs of HE providers and data users.

The model includes data specification, schedule and approach to quality assurance. The design proposes a hybrid approach that accommodates data submissions that are linked to business events, and data submissions that are calendar-driven.

The Collection Design Project is now seeking feedback on the model and particularly an impact analysis from HE providers. Feedback received before 9 January 2017 will inform the final stage of consultation to run in February.

Full details of the Version 2 model and mechanisms for responding are available from www.hesa.ac.uk/innovation/data-futures/collection-design/version-two
