Independent review and in-year Student record

Statutory customers have confirmed that UK providers will not be required to submit an in-year 2025/26 Student data return to Jisc.

The Office for Students (OfS) are currently scoping out the terms of reference and planned approach for an independent UK-wide review of the implementation of Data Futures in collaboration with the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW), the Scottish Funding Council (SFC), and the Department for the Economy in Northern Ireland, as confirmed in recent correspondence to providers across all four nations.

The review is expected to begin in Spring 2024 and will take a number of months. In-year returns will remain paused until the review has been completed so that learning from the review can be considered. It is, therefore, not feasible for the implementation to go ahead for the 2025/26 data collections.
